The sculpture by Toni Stadler (b. 1888 in Munich – d. 1982) was purchased by the city of Hanover following an exhibition by the Kunstverein and later installed at the Maschteich. It connects the organic nature of the pond with the designed surroundings of the park. The steps leading down to the water become a viewing platform, and the sculpture itself becomes part of a staged composition—while simultaneously creating a vantage point from which to view the water, with City Hall serving as a monumental backdrop. Stadler’s work functions both as an external object and a resonating body; the surrounding water serves as a pedestal, a mirror, a source of inspiration, and a buffer. » Location: In the Maschteich (by the stairs behind the New City Hall)
